Fix for Visual Studio 2010: Failed to import ActiveX control…

A fix is now available from Microsoft for the Visual Studio 2010 issue that causes a design time error when adding our Engine ActiveX controls to the form designer. The issue and a temporary workaround were described in a previous post on this blog. We've reported the issue to Microsoft, and an official fix is now available on MSDN as KB2066987. This fix will also be included in the next Visual Studio 2010 service pack. Enjoy our globe and map controls in your .Net 4.0 applications!

  1. Hi,
I am trying to get the hotfix but we apparently need to get it from the technical support of microsoft.
The problem is that they are asking for licence ID or they charge 200 pounds for any help.
    Is there another way?
    Should try to call them?
Do i really need to pay that much?

    tahnks for your help

  2. Valentine,

Unfortunately we are not allowed to redistribute the hotfix from Microsoft. Your best bet is to give Microsoft support a call. I believe the hotfix should be available and free (but I might be wrong).
